Diffable for Node.js!

I was very pleased to receive an email last night from a Mr. Konstantin Plotnikov linking to his implementation of Diffable for the Node.js Connect Framework. It looks very cool, and since Node.js is so hot right now, it is a welcome addition. Please do check it out if you get the chance!

Diffable's First Contributor!

Diffable has had two patches submitted by it's first contributor: ichaehoi! I don't know who you are, but THANK YOU! I am currently integrating the patches into the trunk and adding corresponding unit tests. I can't describe how cool it is to have you on board ichaehoi!

Mea Culpa on the Performance Graph

Since releasing Diffable, the single greatest complaint has been the fact that the Y-axis of the performance improvement graph does not start at 0.

These complaints are all completely valid, and I apologize for the misleading graph. The scale was automatically chosen by Google's charting software within a Google spreadsheet, which is where the graphs were originally created. I thought that because the scale was clearly stated on the left hand side, I wasn't "misleading" so much as presenting a "close-up" of the differences in the patch times. Clearly, many people thought I was wrong, and for this I apologize.

I have fixed the graph in the slides linked to from the project page, and have also contacted Steve Souders to see if he can change the graph used in his blog post. Sorry again for the offending graph.

Many thanks to Steve Souders for giving Diffable some publicity!

His post has generated quite a bit of interest in Diffable and sparked some very interesting discussions on its pros and cons. Needless to say, quite a spike in the analytics graph. :)

Diffable Open Source Project Live!

The Diffable open source project is now public on Google code. I just finished a whiteboard presentation on the project at the O'Reilly Velocity 2010 conference and it was a blast. I have been excited to open source it for a a few months now and it feels great to finally have it happen. I had a lot of fun, the content was well received, and there was quite a bit of follow-up interest. The slides are linked to from the project page. I hope the interest translates into open source participation, as I would love to see more implementations spring up in the future. First and foremost, apache mod-diffable!! :)
